KLH Engineers office is a registered LEED EB facility and an Energy Star facility. The KLH Engineers' headquarters building offers the following sustainable strategies, which highlight the multi-pronged approach KLH Engineers successfully utilizes. Beside focusing on the energy savings, KLH capitalizes on other very important aspects of sustainability.
- Assigned parking for alternative fuel vehicles
- Bike rack
- Entrance mats
- Facility is cleaned / serviced by a green cleaning provider using KLH approved green cleaning chemicals; restroom soaps are green as well
- Use of daylight through exterior windows and skylights.
- Employee views via clear cubical glazing or open office
- Recycling of paper stream and plastic bottles. Paper stream proceeds go to a local elementary school
- Onsite workout facility for employee health (Note: as important as energy savings); most green material skips this aspect of green facilities
- Covered canopy for outside activities
- Lighting control – several areas, different strategies used
- HVAC BAS system
- Use of Energy Star rated equipment or plug loads of computers, monitors, printers, etc.
- Located adjacent to active bus routes and have a bus stop located in front of building Community involvement:
- BEST (Business Education Success Team) member company, through NKY Chamber of Commerce Volunteer company of FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), i.e. Lego League and various other member organizations
The satellite offices in Dayton and Columbus Ohio have similar, but not all inclusive, approaches.

Chuck Lohre, LEED AP (U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional) I volunteer as a Board Member and the PR/Media Chair for the Cincinnati Regional Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council but my tours and classes aren't officially part of the Chapter's activities. I feel the best way to promote LEED in the region is by tours of these significant buildings and it also allows me to give back to the community in thanks for the professional work we do for clients marketing sustainable products and services.
